Puppy Finder - Looking To Buy A Puppy

  • If you are looking to buy a puppy in the near future, why not consider a cute puppy from your local Animal Shelter or Pound? You don't want to contribute to the animal overpopulation problem, do you?

If you are looking to buy a puppy in the near future, you will probably want to get your new puppy from the most reputable source available. With all the unsanitary and inhumane puppy mills being exposed by Humane Societies and animal rights activists throughout the United States, it is more important than ever to know where your pup is coming from.

We have summarized the most popular sources for new puppies to help you determine the best place to buy a puppy and add him or her as the newest family member:

Animal Shelter / Pound

If you are stuck on buying a pure bred puppy, than a breeder of that specific type of dog will be your best bet. If you are more interested in a mixed breed, your local shelter generally has a great variety of dogs, both adult and puppies. The fees to buy a puppy here are usually a token amount with a low cost spay or neuter program available when the puppy is a little older.

There are a couple of important reasons to buy your dog from a shelter or pound; 1) when you go to a breeder, they are simply adding to the dog overpopulation problem, and 2) if you go and get your puppy from the shelter, you are helping a poor dog that has nowhere else to go, possibly saving his life!

The Worldwide Web (Internet)

Most likely you are looking to buy a puppy near your home, but some people shop for their new pup on the Internet. Although going to a pound or shelter to buy a puppy is typically the best idea, the Internet is another option. For instance you can actually use the Internet and buy a puppy online. This would be very useful if you wanted to get a specific breed puppy from the other side of the world, for instance. Or even closer to home, you could check nearby cities for availability.

Just make sure that you are careful with the breeders you are dealing with when you try to buy a puppy on the Internet, because there are a lot of scam artists. You are also going to want to make sure that the puppy is healthy and in good condition, otherwise they may end up having behavioral problems that can be difficult or almost impossible to deal with.

As a precaution, you should insist that the breeder or pet shop provide a Good Health Statement from a local vet for your new puppy to ensure that the pup has been examined for typical puppy health issues.

So, when you go looking to buy a puppy, remember that there are millions of unwanted and homeless adult dogs and puppies at Shelters across the nation. Why not give one of these animals a second chance and take them into a loving home where they can be cared for and loved. They really deserve nothing less, don't you agree?
